Timber frame construction is a traditional, time-proven way of building a structure with the use of heavy timbers. Heavy timbers are typically fastened to one another via mortise and tenon joinery, and the joints are locked together with strong wooden pegs to achieve a strong connection. Timber-constructed homes are usually built in sections (bents) and are then raised into place. Afterwards, girts, rafters, and purlins may be fitted to complete the final frame structure.
